Ariniko O’Meara is my hero for the week.
She’s a Michigan native who has decided to walk every street in Lansing, photographing cool local stuff, exploring local businesses, and promoting the city along the way. Someday when I’m not writing a thesis, I’d like to do something like that, step by step. Until then, follow Ariniko’s path here.
Her fine-grain adventures remind me of Denis Wood’s maps of Boylan Heights, which I wrote about before. It requires such intention – and attention – to learn a city at a pedestrian pace, or to map the network of tree branches across a neighborhood. I like it. Something to work on.
